TAMPA (970 WFLA) -- Power outages and scattered damage are reported across the Tampa Bay area after a cold front brought through an unexpectedly strong line of thunderstorms.
The line blew through between 3 and 4:30 pm Friday. The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for parts of Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, Hernando, Manatee and Polk counties.
In Northdale, callers reported damage to a Winn -Dixie store and traffic lights brought down on Northdale Boulevard.
A mobile home was reported damaged at Seminole Boulevard and 65th Avenue North in Seminole.
Video from callers has shown formations matching a small tornado.
Tampa Electric reported about 44,000 people without power in its service area. Duke Energy reports more than 15,000 people without power as of 4:45 p.m.
