Lakeland, Fla. (970 WFLA)-The driver of an 18 wheeler hauling sweet potatoes narrowly escaped injuries after his semi tractor trailer caught fire in the westbound lanes of I-4 near mile marker 35 near Lakeland.
The driver, 62 year old Steven Tillman of Orlando pulled the semi over to the shoulder of the road, just before the big rig caught fire and quickly became engulfed in flames.
All lanes of westbound I-4 have reopened, but expect extensive delays, to continue.
