Bartow, Fla. (970 WFLA)-A tense evening in Bartow after a suspicious device was discovered by a security guard at the Polk County Courthouse.
It was found near the east entrance around 6:30 Thursday night, people still inside were evacuated.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office Bomb Detection dogs were called, Tampa Bomb Squad Officers used a robot to determine the device was electronic trash and not an explosive.
Adding to the suspense, police say someone had phoned in a bomb threat for the Bartow Police Department earlier in the day.
