Friends, Family Pay Tribute to Hillsborough Deputy

Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA) - For those who knew Hillsborough County Courthouse Deputy Brian Bass, one word is emerging to describe him from family, friends, fellow deputies, judges, attorneys and courthouse staff after he suddenly passed away last Tuesday : beloved.

Today, dozens of those same people packed the courthouse's largest courtroom for a somber and special tribute for Deputy Bass in what's known as his last radio call.

As everyone tearfully listened to one lone police radio in the front of the courtroom, one of Deputy Bass' closest friends and fellow Deputy, Richie Griffin, called out for Deputy Bass one final time.  He went on to thank Deputy Bass for dedicating the past 19 years of his life to serving the Sheriff's Office and most importantly being a loving and devoted father to his daughters, 20-year-old Kiersten and 16-year-old Amber.

A visitation will be held for Deputy Bass from 10am to 11am this Wednesday, October 24th at First Baptist Church of Plant City, 3309 James L. Redman Parkway.  His funeral service will follow beginning at 11am.
