Tampa Bay Gears Up for a Weekend of Festivals


Tampa Pig Jig returns Saturday to Curtis Hixon Park. Enter in the BBQ contest if you dare, or jam out to country stars Chris Young, with Riley Green, Carson McHone, and alt-rock bands Deer Tick and Futurebirds. 1-10 p.m. this Saturday. 

Bayboro Harbor’s waterfront turns into a free kid-friendly science lab for the St. Pete Science Festival this Saturday with tons of interactive exhibits from 10-4. 

Dia de los Muertos: This huge festival in Dunedin returns... and over 5,000 people are expected to take over in Pioneer Park 5-11 p.m. this Saturday. Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican celebration of those who have passed on... even though it is often tied to Halloween, it's a very different holiday! 

Clearwater Beach Chalk Art Festival brings more than 35 local and regional artists to transform the Beach Walk with chalk Friday thru Sunday - and it's all free! 


Your pup wants to celebrate too! There's a Halloween party for dogs in Channelside at Ferg’s from 2-9 p.m. Saturday! Dress your dog to impress (even though they might hate you for it!).

There's a food truck rally this Friday that brings zombie themed menus with a Thriller dance flash mob. It starts at 6 p.m. at, Albert Whitted Park in St. Petersburg goes on till 10 p.m.

 If you want even more spooks, check out the daylong Freddy Krueger marathon at the Tampa Theatre on Saturday. From 10 a.m. to midnight all 6 Nightmare on Elm Street films will play, you'll want some snacks because that's 14 hours in all.


St. Petersburgers are a vintage-loving bunch. the St. Pete Vintage Bash on Sunday at the Hollander Hotel will have a distinct vibe of the ‘40s and ‘50s. There will be a show of vintage motorcycles and cars, a vintage swimwear contest will show who has the best old duds. Artists including Chad Mize, Stephen Palladino and Bekky Beukes will have embellished motorcycle helmets for an art show. Tunes by DJ Sugarbear and the Hot Rod Hornets set the mood for a swing dance-off. Free to attend. 1-6 p.m. at 421 Fourth Ave. N.
