Arrest Made in St. Petersburg Double-Homicide

St. Petersburg, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A man recently released from prison is back in jail for a a double homicide that left two people dead in a  St. Petersburg alley on Tuesday morning.

St. Petersburg Police Detectives arrested 30-year-old Charles Edward Hixon, Jr. for first degree felony murder in the deaths of Kenneth Leo Shook and Cheryl Lee Casey.

According to detectives, Shook and Casey's bodies were found by a neighbor in the alleyway of 14th Avenue South and 16th Street South near a parked pickup who then called police.  However, no details have been released on how Shook and Casey died. 

According to Department of Corrections records, Hixon was sentenced to seven years in prison for robbery, burglary and drug charges in 2009 and was released in 2016. He was arrested again later that year on charges of providing false information to a pawnbroker and drug possession.  

Hixon was then sentenced to another year in prison in 2017 and released in April of this year.
