Elderly Biker Blamed for Deadly Brooksville Crash

Brooksville, Fla. (970 WFLA) - An elderly biker died after running a red light and crashing into a car Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

William Penning, 65, of Homosassa, rode his Harley Davidson motorcycle on Cortez Blvd. just after 10 p.m. when he made a left turn at a red light and pulled in front of an oncoming car, according to a news release from the FHP. Penning and his passenger, Joyce Ann Keller, 64, both fell off the bike and were taken to the hospital. Penning died and Keller was in critical condition as of Sunday afternoon, troopers said. 

The driver of the car, Thomas Schilk, 74, of Spring Hill, was unhurt, and faces no charges.
