It's reported that the Tampa Bay Rays will purchase the Tampa Bay Rowdies soccer team and gain control of the Rowdies home field, Al Lang Stadium.
The Rays announced several months ago that the team has selected a site in Ybor City to build a new baseball stadium and even released renderings of a new ballpark in Tampa.
Rowdies owner Bill Edwards bought the soccer franchise five years ago and added more than 1,000 seats to the downtown St. Pete waterfront stadium that was a spring training baseball stadium for decades.
The Rowdies have scheduled a news conference for tomorrow.
