Polk Deputy Shoots Woman With Knife

Winter Haven, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-A Polk County deputy is on administrative leave after shooting a woman who attacked him during a domestic disturbance call at a residence on 16th Street, N.E., here.

Deputy Lance Turley was called to the home by 36 year-old Christopher Ingram after, he said, his ex-girlfriend was threatening him and tearing up his house.  Turley was talking with Ingram in front of the residence when 25 year-old Lindsey Erin Collins of Kissimmee came at them with a knife. 

Turley, fearing for the safety of Ingram and himself, fired one shot. Collins was hit and is hospitalized in serious, but stable, condition. The deputy and Ingram were not hurt.

Collins is facing two counts of attempted 1st degree murder, aggravated assault on a law officer, armed burglary and felony criminal mischief.
