Brandon, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A hit-and-run drunk driver killed a bicyclist early Sunday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
John Dilgard rode a mountain bike on Kings Ave. at 12:42 a.m. when someone struck him from behind, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office. Calls to 911 reported a person down at Kings Ave. near the intersection of Calm Dr.
Deputies and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded and found Dilgard dead at the scene. Deputies located a potential suspect and the vehicle believed responsible, and say charges are pending, but did not release the name of the driver. They suspect alcohol contributed to the crash.
