Miami, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)- The governor of South Carolina has issued mandatory coastal evacuation orders ahead of hurricane watches, which could be posted as soon as tomorrow morning for Hurricane Florence.
Florence's top winds are now 140 miles per hour... it's about 1200 miles east southeast of Cape Fear, North Carolina (Wilimington). The new cone of uncertainty seems to have shifted north. The latest on Hurricanes Florence, Isaac and Helene from the National Hurricane Center:

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Florence was located near latitude 25.4 North, longitude 61.1 West. Florence is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). This general motion with an increase in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. A turn toward the northwest is forecast to occur late Wednesday night. On the forecast track, the center of Florence will move over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda and the Bahamas Tuesday and Wednesday, and approach the coast of South Carolina or North Carolina on Thursday.
Data from a NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that maximum sustained winds have increased near 140 mph (220 km/h) with higher gusts. Florence is a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir- Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Further strengthening is anticipated, and Florence is expected to be an extremely dangerous major hurricane through Thursday.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles (65 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles (240 km).
The estimated minimum central pressure from NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft data is 939 mb (27.73 inches).
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Florence are affecting Bermuda and portions of the U.S. East Coast. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Isaac was located near latitude 14.4 North, longitude 45.0 West. Isaac is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h). A westward motion with a slight increase in forward speed is expected through the end of the week. On the forecast track, Isaac should move across the Lesser Antilles and into the eastern Caribbean Sea on Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is expected over the next day or two. Weakening is forecast to begin by the middle of the week as Isaac approaches the Lesser Antilles.
Isaac is a small hurricane. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 10 miles (20 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km).
The estimated minimum central pressure is 993 mb (29.33 inches).

Helene is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h). A continued west- northwestward motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected through late Tuesday, followed by a turn toward the northwest and then toward the north-northwest on Wednesday and Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds remain near 105 mph (165 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible during the next 12 to 24 hours, but gradual weakening should begin thereafter.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km).
The estimated minimum central pressure is 974 mb (28.77 inches).
