Death Threats Come for Jewelers with "Take a Knee" Ad

A New England jeweler is under fire after a billboard located next to a popular highway has gone viral and caused controversy.

Garieri Jewelers, a family-owned business that has been in operation since 1947, designed a billboard showing a man kneeling on a football field. The caption reads, "If you’re going to take a knee this season, please have a ring in your hand!"

The store initially received positive feedback on the billboard, but things turned negative quickly after a man posted a photo of the billboard to his personal Facebook page and it made the rounds on the internet.

Negative comments flooded the store's social media pages, calling the ad racist. People threatened to vomit on the jewelry showcases and urinate on the adjacent sidewalk, and the store received hundreds of one-star reviews. Garieri even said he received a comment saying, "Alexandria why don’t you just kill yourself?"
