Wrong-Way Driver Dies in Polk Parkway Crash

Polk County, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A wrong-way crash on the Polk Parkway early Saturday killed the driver who caused it, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Raymundo Centeno, 33, of Mt. Dora drove his Smart Car west in the eastbound lanes of the parkway at about 2:30 a.m. when he collided head-on south of K-Ville Ave. with the car driven by Mikolaycak Milorme, 29, of Winter Haven, according to a news release from the FHP.

Centeno died later at an area hospital. Milorme went to the hospital in serious condition. Each car had only their drivers inside at the time of the crash, the FHP said. Tests will determine whether Centeno was drunk at the time. Eastbound lanes of the Polk Parkway near Mile Marker 14 stayed closed for several hours as state troopers investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
