Car Burglar On Bike Busted In Tampa Neighborhood

Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)- A 40 year old bicycle riding car burglar, who allegedly hunted several Tampa neighborhoods at night for unlocked car doors is now behind locked doors.

Police say a home owner spotted Demetrius Marshall trying to break into a car in the 100 block of west Curtis Street around 4:50 Thursday morning.

Detectives recognized Marshall as an auto burglary  suspect caught on surveillance video earlier in the week.   Marshall is seen riding his bike to the 1000 block of West Ohio Avenue in the Riverside Heights neighborhood shortly before 2 a.m.  He laid his bike down in the middle of the road and proceeded to pull on the door handles of several cars parked in front of a home.  Marshall then walked across the street where he was able to get inside of a minivan and a sedan. He got on his bike and left the scene after he rummaged through both unlocked vehicles.

Marshall  is charged with three counts of auto burglary and two counts of attempted auto burglary.
