BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) – A man was arrested in Manatee County on Monday for carjacking an Uber driver.

According to the sheriff’s office, Jose Aguirre, the Uber driver, picked up Anderson Carter at an address in west Bradenton.

While en route to the destination, Carter started striking Aguirre on the right side of his face with a closed fist and attempted to get into the driver seat.

Carter took off at a high rate of speed and crashed the vehicle at Whitfield Avenue and 15th Street East.

After crashing, Carter fled the scene and continued west on Whitfield Avenue.

Deputies attempted to catch up to the vehicle.
