THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND IN THE BAY AREA
Concerts:
Imagine Dragons will be appearing at MidFlorida Credit Union Ampitheatre at 7 p.m. Friday, August 10th. This pop-rock group has some huge hits, and you've probably heard them at a Tampa Bay Lightning game.
At Amalie Arena, you'll find J. Cole on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Young Thug and Will Smith's son Jaden Smith will be opening for him.
Comedy:
Comedian Adam Ray, best known for his roll in the Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock comedy 'The Heat', will perform Friday through Sunday at the Improv at Centro Ybor. Jim Florentine, known from Comedy Central's 'Crank Yankers' and VH1's 'That Metal Show' will be at Side Splitters Comedy Club Thursday through Sunday.
Date Night Activities:
Head to St. Petersburg for their Second Saturday Art Walk. All of the galleries and studios have extended their hours for the nights, and local artists will be giving demonstrations. Most pieces will be discounted, some up to 75% off. Grab a glass of wine and admire the work, for a map and more details, head to stpeteartalliance.org/artwalk
Grab your sweetheart and catch the Perseid Meteor Shower, hitting this area all weekend long. Catch 60-100 shooting stars per hour after midnight. The best viewing spots will be somewhere dark, try a beach or local park!
Film:
Catch a horrific Hollywood trio this month at Freefall Theatre. It starts Friday night with Fright Night, moves on to Gremlins on August 18th and wraps up with Creepshow on August 25th. All shows start at 8 p.m. The best part? These films will all be hosted by Miss McGee aka Freefall Outreach Coordinator Matthew McGee, dressed to the nines in drag.
This Week in Dress Up:
Head to the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront all weekend long for a highly anticipated and awaited convention, Fetish Con! Check out lectures, workshops, demonstrations, and an erotic art show. Take a stroll down the Kinky Red Carpet, head down to the private dungeon or jump in the water at the Pervy Pool Party. Or just head on over to people watch, but remember- this event is 18+!
