Rev Up At The ADA Celebration

On  July 18, 2018 Hillsborough County, Florida Government Board of County  Commissioners presented a proclamation to the Tampa-Hillsborough  Alliance for People with Disabilities  declaring July 27, 2018 as  Americans with Disabilities Act Awareness Day in Hillsborough County. So we celebrated!!

On Friday, July 27, Thanks to Ben Ritter, I got the chance to check out the American  Disabilities Act Celebration at the Hillsborough County Center to see  what they were all about.

I got the chance to check out Tampa's very first fully accessible Gasparilla float, which the Crewe Of Sir Francis Drake won an incredible award for, that will put them in line to be one of the first few floats at next year's parade! The float was incredible, accessible and very spacious. They truly went above and beyond to make sure EVERYONE could be included in this float.

I then got a chance to check out some of the incredible artwork presented by the VSA

This artwork was all done by new and established artists that each go through life with some form of disability. There is absolutely no disability that stopped these artists from creating masterpieces! I was so honored to get to check it out, and even meet a few of the artists!

From someone who can't even draw a proper stick figure, I was extremely impressed.

Learn more about some of the VSA artists HERE!

There was so much to check out at the event and I was glad that I was able to make my way around to everything.

From educational seminars, to learning about your voting rights, there was somewhere there for everyone to spend their time.

Here's a look at a few other vendors that were at the celebration!

Thanks to Ben Ritter for inviting me out to this incredible, eye opening event!
