Zephyrhills, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Two young Pasco County women died when a speeding car caused a crash that sent itself and another car to roll over early Sunday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Jonathan Ryan Haynes, 36, of Zephyrhills drove his Infiniti G37 at high speed westbound on State Road 54 near Evans Street when it rear-ended the Oldmobile Intrigue driven by Hannah Marie Nelson, 24, of Dade City just after 2 a.m., according to a news release from the FHP.
The impact forced both cars off the road, and both rolled over. Neither Nelson nor her passenger, Ashley Aaron Plummer, 24, of Zephyrhills, wore seatbelts, and both died at the scene of the crash. Haynes suffered serious injuries, and charges are pending against him. Troopers say that alcohol played a role in the crash.
