A contingent of law enforcement personnel will surround Newsome High School in Lithia today! It's the location of an active shooter training drill.
Live paint rounds will be used as, 140 Hillsborough School Resource Deputies and school security officers along with dozens of volunteers portraying victims will be part of the drill.
School begins in Hillsborough in two weeks and Sheriff Chad Chronister says he wants his team to be ready for a worse case scenario.
Today's exercise starts at noon and will continue through out the afternoon.
