Tampa Men Accused in Check Fraud Scheme

TAMPA (970 WFLA) -- Three men are accused of opening bank accounts just to cash bad checks.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says Luis Bonilla, Junior, Frederico Di Pietro, and Pablo Serrano, all of Tampa, would cook up fake checks bearing the names of companies registered with the state,  then deposit and cash them within hours or days before bankers realized what was going on.

FDLE says the three men ripped off banks to the tune of 30 thousand dollars.
