Sun City Center, Fla.(970 WFLA)- On July 16th, A woman was outside helping a friend in the 4000 block of Upper Creek Drive, when she felt something hit her arm, she didn't see what it was and drove home. When she arrived, she looked again and found that a small bat had been clinging to her arm. She killed it and called the Hillsborough Department of Health, who tested the bat, and found it had rabies. The unidentified woman will now have to undergo treatment.
The Dept. Of Health is notifying homes and business's within a five hundred foot radius of where the bat was found, about the dangers of rabies and how to take precautions to prevent family and pets from becoming infected.
So far this year seven animals have been found in Hillsborough county infected with the disease, exposing fifteen people to rabies .
