Tampa PD K9 Bites Carjacking Suspect After Chase

Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Police caught the man they accuse of an armed carjacking, whom they say crashed the stolen car as officers chased him.

The pursuit began Thursday at East Osborne Ave. and North 22nd St. at  about 9:40 p.m.  when officers spotted a 2017 silver Ford Mustang convertible taken by force Sunday. Seeing the officers, Andre Antonio Parker, 26, drove off. The brief pursuit ended when the car crashed into a fence at North 50th St. just north of Hillsborough Ave., according to a news release from Tampa Police.

Parker got out of the car and ran, and officers tracked him with a police dog. They found him at about 12:30 a.m. Friday, and the dog bit Parker on the left ankle, the news release said. He faces multiple charges, including Grand Theft Auto, Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, Leaving the Scene of a Crash. The investigation continues and other charges are possible.
