The students crowded around the stage at Williams Park in downtown St. Pete, dozens of young people who are part of the March for Our Lives' Road to Change tour. They're calling for gun control laws in the wake of the Parkland shooting.
But this time, ralliers vow that their voices will be heard at the polls. St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman tells the crowd that this summer is about voting. Also at the rally--Democratic gubernatorial candidates Chris King, Andrew Gillum and Gwen Graham. She said the National Rifle Assocation controls state and federal governments.
"I know any one of us who is elected, we're gonna fight the NRA. They're no longer gonna have control," Graham told the crowd.
Even Republican State Representative Chris Latvala, who is up for reelection, was at the rally. He said he's the lowest-rated Republican by the NRA for his stance on some gun issues, being given a 'D' by the gun rights group.
"It is something I wear as a Badge of Honor," said Latvala.
The Road to Change tour is appearing at 25 Florida cities.
