TALLAHASSEE (970 WFLA) -- More gators, more chances to hunt them. Florida's alligator population is growing... and Tammy Sapp at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission says they've decided to issue 1313 additional gator hunting licenses.
"We've revised our management objectives" to deal with "a thriving population" of alligators, Sapp says. Sapp tells us they're trying to reduce the population in areas where alligators and people are most likely to come in contact.
Those licenses are going fast... they started handing them out at 10 this morning and by our count, fewer than 200 remain. They're available on line at gooutdoorsflorida.com
