Rays Release Ybor Stadium Design

Rays proposed Ybor stadium

Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-The Tampa Bay Rays have rolled out their plans for a new stadium in Ybor City.  The project would ring in at an estimated $892,429,823.

While the total project would come in at the number listed above, the ballpark itself would cost around $809 million.  Another $83 million would go toward infrastructure.  Up to $245 million would be used on the translucent roof.

The Rays say total capacity of the stadium would be almost 31,000, with over 28,000 regular seats and almost 3,000 standing room capacity.

The new stadium site is perfect for drawing in the crowds.  The Rays say the stadium would be within a 30 minute drive of over one and a half million fans.

The stadium is not a done deal yet.  The Rays must negotiate their move from Tropicana Field, come up with the money to build the stadium and get big business behind the effort.
