St. Pete Cops: Drunk Driver, Asleep, Kills Biker

St. Petersburg, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A motorcyclist died when a drunk driver ran a red light while asleep at the wheel crashed into him late Saturday, police said.

Dylan Charles Baron, 22, fell asleep while driving on 4th St. North shortly before midnight when he ran the light at Gandy Blvd., according to a news release from St. Petersburg Police.

His car hit the BMW motorcycle ridden by Michael Marjchrowski, 48. The St. Petersburg Fire Department declared him dead the scene. He did have his helmet on, police said. Baron "had been consuming alcohol," according to the news release. Police continue to investigate and say any charges are pending.

The crash and subsequent investigation forced police to close parts of 4th St. and Gandy Blvd. for approximately six hours.
