TALLAHASSEE (970 WFLA) -- Many drivers haven't been able to get into their Sunpass accounts since the website and mobile app went down for maintenance earlier this month.
Now the Florida Department of Transportation says the company that runs the toll road system will not be collecting late fees or penalties until everything is up and running properly.
Sunpass says it will gradually resume posting toll transactions on individual accounts over the next couple of weeks.
The system has been accumulating toll charges since the system went down for maintenance June 1st. FDOT says that the posting of those charges was delayed until the website and call centers were operating more efficiently.
The Florida Turnpike Enterprise says it will announce a timeline to resume fees or penalties for accounts that have not been caught up during the grace period.
