Fort Meade, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Florida Highway Patrol Troopers have arrested 27 year-old Bartley Joseph Jude Gorman for a 2011 fatal crash on the portion of Interstate 75 known as "Alligator Alley."
Troopers say Gorman was driving a pickup truck that rear-ended another pickup, causing the driver to lose control and end up in a ditch. A passenger in that truck could not swim and drowned.
Gorman fled the scene, but was later found and the investigation showed he had a blood alcohol level of 0.18. Gorman went missing, but a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash, vehicular homicide and DUI property damage.
Troopers say Gorman left the South Florida area and used fraudulent driver licenses to mask his identity. But, after a tip and a lot of surveillance, troopers located Gorman at the Hammock Lake RV Park in Fort Meade.
Troopers also arrested 27 year-old Catherine Ann Gallagher for harboring a fugitive.
