Suspect Arrested in Polk County Murder Case

Winter Haven, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A CrimeStoppers tip led detectives to their suspect in a shooting that killed one man and critically wounded another Sunday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

James "Spooky" Williams, 36, was arrested in the same Carefree Cove neighborhood where detectives say he shot Nasir Sutton, 23, and Bennie Joiner, 38, after an argument at the victims' home. Sutton suffered fatal injuries, while Joiner fights for life in a hospital.

Charges Williams face include first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Detectives recovered a handgun when they made the arrest, according to a news release from the PCSO.
