Clearwater, Fla.(970 WFLA)-A former middle school teacher is in trouble. Clearwater Police arrested 34 year old Marsell Anthony Smith of Clearwater, Thursday night. Police charged him charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery. According to the police report, Smith had sex with a 14 year male student.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office report says, detectives started their investigation May 31st., after information from Clearwater Police, regarding the arrest of 34-year-old Marselia Anthony Smith for two counts of Lewd and Lascivious Battery.
During the course of their investigation and interview of Smith, Clearwater detectives learned there was a crime committed at Dunedin Middle School, which is within the Sheriff's Office jurisdiction. Detectives say Smith was a chorus teacher at Dunedin Middle School, but is no longer employed with the school.
Smith was a teacher at Dunedin Middle School when the incidents occurred beginning April 1. Sometimes at his apartment on South Missouri Avenue and others occurred at the school.
The Clearwater Police Department charges relate to what took place at his residence in Clearwater. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is expected to add a charge related to what occurred at the school, which is located in its jurisdiction.
Smith is no longer employed with the Pinellas County School District.
