Trail Date Or Stand Your Ground Today For Wesley Chapel Movie Shooter

Dade City, Fla.(970 WFLA)- The attorney's for retired Tampa Police Captain Curtis Reeves may file a "stand your ground" defense motion during a court hearing in Pasco County today. The judge could also set a trial date.

The hearing was scheduled after Reeves was first denied to use the stand your ground defense,  after he shot Chad Oulson inside the Cobb Grove 16 Theater in Wesley Chapel in 2014.

Since then, the Second Circuit District Court of Appeals  has made changes to the law, that apply retroactively, making him possibly immune from prosecution and could allow Reeves attorney to ask for a second hearing on the stand your ground defense.
