Miami,Fla.(970 WFLA)-Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center now say there's a 60-percent chance that a disturbance headed for the Gulf of Mexico could become a tropical depression.
The system is located just east of the Yucatan Peninsula. It's producing a large area of cloudiness and showers extending from the northwestern Caribbean sea, across Cuba, and into Florida.
Whether the system becomes a depression or not, much of the state can expect locally heavy rainfall and possible flooding through the Memorial Day weekend.
The next Special Tropical Weather Outlook on this system will be issued by 800 PM
