Tampa and St Petersburg Score Well on Parks

BOSTON (970 WFLA) -- Tampa and St Pete score well in a nationwide survey of city parks. St Pete is number 15 and Tampa is number 39 among the nation's 100 biggest cities, according to a survey by the Trust for Public Land.

Parkscore spokesman Charlie McCabe says nearly three quarters of St Petersburg residents live within a 10 minute walk of a park... in Tampa, that number is 60 percent.

The Bay Area's two biggest cities also score well for spending and amenities, such as restrooms and dog parks. In both cities, typical park size is a little smaller than the national average.

Orlando ranks 46th, Miami 50th, Jacksonville 85th and Hialeah 95th among the top 100 cities in the nation.
