Dunedin, Fla. (970 WFLA) - An off duty Largo firefighter faces a DUI charge after deputies found him asleep inside his car at a stoplight early Saturday, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies noticed that Michael Cruz, 26, sat at an intersection on Main Street in Dunedin even after the light turned green. It did not move even when a deputy pulled up behind it and turned on its emergency lights. When deputies approached the car, they saw Cruz asleep at the wheel with his foot on the brake and the car in gear, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.
They said Cruz performed poorly on field sobriety tests, then submitted a breath sample, "which indicated he had a BRAC of .141/.143," according to the news release.
