Tampa, Fla-(5/18/2018)-Former Tampa Bay radio personality Read Shepherd has returned for a month. Read was half of the old Shepherd and Shepherd radio show on WWRM, with Ann Shepherd.
Read is now the morning news anchor on iHeart Media's WGY in Albany, New York. Read returned to take care of some business here and is doing his regular news gig out of the iHeart Tampa studios. It is probably some lame excuse so Read could escape the New York cold for a while.
I go back with Read a few years. We took in more than a few spring training games at the Cincinnati Reds complex in Plant City. Yep, Read is from Ohio and enjoyed those games.
I thought I would see Read wearing New York Yankees of Mets gear, but I was wrong. He's been coming in wearing a Tampa Bay Rays shirt. He is still a Tampa Bay sports fan. I guess old habits die hard.
Read has added a few pounds and looks a little older, but he still has that great radio voice. That's the magic of radio. I've been told more than once that I have a face for radio.
