CLEARWATER (970 WFLA) -- Police say a man left his four year old daughter inside a locked car as he attended a hearing in the Pinellas County Courthouse.
People heard the child crying inside the 2004 Mercedes about two hours after 52 year old Dean Baaj went into the hearing Thursday morning. They alerted a courthouse deputy. The sun roof was cracked open, the only concession to the steamy 82 degree weather.
Clearwater police soon arrived and took Baaj into custody.
The child was checked out by paramedics and found to be OK. She has been placed with her mother, who was also attending the hearing. Baaj is charged with child neglect.
