Hit-and-Run Car Crash Kills New Port Richey Man

New Port Richey, Fla. (970 WFLA) - The man drove home. Never mind the other man he'd hit and left to die on the way Saturday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State Troopers say that Austin Patrick Payne, 27, struck a pedestrian walking along Bruin Drive, south of State Road 52, at about 9 p.m., left the crash site, and drove to his home on nearby Echo Loop in New Port Richey, the FHP said in a news release.

Christopher J. Ryan, 29, also of New Port Richey, died at the scene. "This case remains under investigation at this time," the release said. Charges were pending, it said.
