Sebring, Fla.-(970 WFLA)- Funeral arrangements for slain Highlands County Deputy William Gentry have been set.
Sheriff Paul Blackman says, as he was in life, Deputy Gentry is a hero in death by donating his organs.
Interstate 75 lined with lights this morning to escort Deputy Gentry from Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers to Tampa for the next phase of the organ donation process.
There will be a candlelight vigil for Deputy Gentry at 8 p.m. at Firemen's Field in Sebring tonight. Open to the public.
Funeral services for Deputy Gentry are set for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15 at the Highlands News-Sun Center in Sebring. Sheriff Blackman says hundreds of fellow officers from across the state and the country will be there.
