Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn Talks Riverfront Park, Rays and More

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • Newly renovated Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park will open May 12th. The park is 4x the size of Curtis Hixon, and will mimic it's appeal-providing a venue for concerts, festivals and events.
  • State of the City address will be presented at the park opening and will touch on tribulations of the year including Hurricane Irma and the Seminole Heights serial killer, but will focus on the fact that "the best is yet to come" for Tampa.
  • Mayor Buckhorn says there is still a 50/50 chance the Rays are coming to Tampa, and progress is being made regarding the move every week.
  • Transportation is the "Achilles heel" of Tampa and if it were up to Mayor Buckhorn issues would have been resolved 6-7 years ago.
  • Mayor Buckhorn says that civilians do not need access to AR-15s and local government should regulate who has access to these weapons.
  • There is a 0% chance we will see Mayor Buckhorn enter the Governor's race, but he is open to the possibility of accepting the Lt. Governor position.
