Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)-A Tampa man, with a history of accosting young women has been arrested again. 78 yr old Adoor Venugopal allegedly approached a 15 yr old girl walking home from school Monday afternoon at Dale Mabry and Tahoe Court. The girl says after making sexual comments, Venugopal grabbed her and tried to kiss her. She ran.
Tampa Police spokesman Danny Alvarez says this isn't the first time Venugopal has been arrested.
In 2002 Venugopal committed a battery when he grabbed an 18 year old victim, slapped her in the back, with an open palm. He pled guilty and was convicted, and that's what elevated this recent case to a felony charge.
Venugopal is charged with battery and faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
Alvarez says within an hour of the call reporting the incident, they had Venugopal in custody.
Venugopal has since bonded out of jail.
