Plant City, Fla. (Newsradio 970 WFLA)-The statewide manhunt is over for the Orlando man accused of carjacking vehicles in Orlando and Plant City. Hillsborough County deputies say 43 year-old Majar Jones had checked himself into a mental health facility in Tampa under a false name.
Deputies say all the publicity surrounding the carjackings helped lead them to Jones.
Jones was wanted for carjacking a Cadillac in Orlando, crashing it in Polk County and then abandoning the stolen vehicle on I-4 in Plant City.
Deputies say after he ran from the damaged car, it didn't take Jones long to spot a green Ford F-150 pick-up he managed to steal. Investigators also say Jones fired his gun during that incident, but nobody was hit,
Deputies say the stolen F-150 has not yet been recovered.
