Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Police have arrested a 68 year-old man for the 2017 murder of a woman found dead behind some bushes near West Spruce Street and North Oregon Avenue.
Officers say a lot of detective work, since the September murder, led them to a house across the street from where the body was found. They say there was also forensic evidence tying James Leon Jackson to 35 year-old victim Diana Medina of Kissimmee. Investigators say Jackson was also acquainted with the woman.
Police say Medina died of a combination of stab wounds and manual strangulation.
Police say Jackson was arrested on unrelated drug charges two weeks after the murder, and spent the last several months in jail before his arrest.
