Two ALFs Shut Down in St. Pete

The St. Pete Police Department has shut down two assisted living facilities for mentally disabled adults.

Yolanda Fernandez of the police department says the residents were living in "deplorable" conditions with no electricity, running water, broken windows and rats.

Fernandez says there are at least nine residents who will be placed in other facilities.  The two houses, on 2nd Avenue South, are owned by Tampa Bay Behavioral Health.

No charges have been filed at this time.
