Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-The Transportation Security Administration has discovered three loaded firearms in carry-on baggage at Tampa International airport. All three weapons were found in a single day (Monday).
TSA officers found a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber and a loaded Sig Sauer .40 caliber in one passenger's bag. A loaded Glock .380 caliber pistol was found in yet another passenger's bag.
The TSA alerted airport police, who took possession of the bags and took the passengers into custody. Firearms may be transported in checked baggage, as long as they are declared, but are prohibited in carry-on bags.
TSA officers have found 24 firearms at Tampa International in 2018. Ninety seven weapons were found at T.I.A. in 2017.
