Strong Thunderstorms and Tornado Watch

SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR WEST CENTRAL SUMTER...PASCO...HERNANDO...PINELLAS AND WESTERN HILLSBOROUGH COUNTIES UNTIL 300 PMEDT...

At 209 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Weeki Wachee to 15 miles west of St. Pete Beach. Movement was east at 30 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.Locations impacted include...Tampa, Spring Hill, Clearwater, Largo, Pinellas Park, Seminole, NewPort Richey, Brooksville, Bushnell, Downtown Saint Petersburg,Hudson, Fort Desoto Park, Holiday, Saint Petersburg, Lutz, St.Petersburg, St. Pete Beach, Anna Maria, Weeki Wachee and Palm Harbor.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

A tornado watch remains in effect until 600 PM EDT for central and west central Florida.
