Pinellas County, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A man left to care for a 12-year-old girl sexually assaulted her instead, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Thomas Pham, 55, of Safety Harbor engaged in "inappropriate sexual activity" with the girl in his care Friday at a home in the county, according to a PCSO news release.
Friday night, the girl flagged down a Tarpon Springs police officer and reported what happened. Pinellas County detectives took on the investigation because the incident happened in their jurisdiction.
Detectives say that they confirmed that the incident did take place, and say that Pham confessed when they questioned him. They arrested him early Saturday and took him to the Pinellas County Jail on a charge of sexual battery on a minor.
