UPDATE:Verizon Reports Service Restored Around Tampa Bay

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Verizon says service has been restored in the Tampa Bay area after an outage left subscribers unable to make phone calls,  including many 911 dispatch centers.

People first started noticing the outage early Thursday evening when phone calls would not go through.

Early Friday morning, Verizon said the problem had been fixed.

“Verizon Wireless experienced interruption in service in the Tampa Bay area last night. Engineers were able to identify and resolve the issue and service was restored by 2:45 a.m. this morning,” said Verizon spokesperson Kate Jay.
