Two Crashes Close I-4 in Plant City

Plant City, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Two separate crashes forced state troopers to close Interstate 4 in Plant City for about four hours Sunday morning.

The first crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. when a driver lost control going east on I-4, collided with the concrete barrier and came to rest in the travel lanes of the Interstate, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Four other vehicles crashed trying to avoid the first vehicle. As troopers cleared the first crash scene, two more vehicles crashed in the backup behind it on the SR-39 overpass. One of them overturned.

The crashes closed eastbound I-4 until about 8:30 a.m. Troopers did not say whether anyone suffered injuries in the crashes.
