Hillsborough County, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A Tennessee man faces charges accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl during a visit to Florida, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Justin Bowen, 18, of Hendersonville, Tenn. was with his parents on a trip to visit "known individuals" last month when detectives say he had the sexual activity with the girl when he was left alone with her for 10-15 minutes while her parents spoke with neighbors outside, according to a news release from HCSO.
The girl later told a relative, who called the Sheriff's Office. Bowen returned to Tennessee and refused to cooperate with investigators, but detectives say they were able to verify the girl's story anyway and got an arrest warrant for Bowen, who came back to Hillsborough County and turned himself in.
He faces a charge of sexual battery on a victim under 12 years old.
