Sumter County, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Florida Highway Patrol Troopers say four people were transported to area hospitals after a dump truck hit an ambulance on U.S. 301, near Northeast 13th Avenue, here.
Accident investigators say a Sumter County EMS ambulance was traveling northbound on 301 when it pulled over to the grass shoulder, activated the emergency lights and made a U-turn into the path of a northbound dump truck. Four people, three in the ambulance and one in the truck, were injured.
Troopers cited the driver of the ambulance for making an improper and unsafe U-turn.
